Tantec are a TechTimeOut Aware Employer

techtimeout aware

Tantec UK is delighted to announce that it has been awarded techtimeout ‘aware’ status by Techtimeout, a leading workplace programme supported by The Mental Health Service. The certification is granted to businesses who raise awareness within their organisation of the impact overusing technology has on mental health and productivity. As a leading employer in Redditch, we’re passionate about the wellbeing of our staff and protecting their mental health. We also want to inspire other individuals, businesses and communities to evaluate the way they use technology and make a change for the better.

To achieve the award, our staff completed the #techtimeout10 challenge which involved taking a break from technology for a defined period of time each day for 10 consecutive days. All of the team found this extremely beneficial, enabling them to spend more time with their family, friends and on their hobbies. Over the last 12 months, we’ve also discussed the negative impact the overuse of technology can have, put in place steps to protect the wellbeing of our employees and actively made changes to limit the impact of 24/7 connection, encouraging our staff to achieve a better work life balance. Whether they’re working from home, in the office or a hybrid mix of the two, we’re committed to recognising the importance of breaks to support productivity and – most importantly – avoid burnout. We’ve also installed clear communications channels to underpin these measures.

Chris Howey, Managing Director at Tantec UK, announced, “We’re delighted to be awarded the status of techtimeout aware and look forward to continuing our support for this fantastic initiative. We value our employees mental health and wellbeing, therefore we’re committed to putting in place the right measures to provide them with our full support. Techtimeout has been a great way to help us achieve this”.

A spokesperson for Techtimeout commented, “We’re really pleased that Tantec UK have shown that they are committed to the digital wellbeing of their employees and have started to enable them to have healthier relationships with their technology.”
